The Apple Cardigan

Fall is here and winter is near if you live in Ohio. The mornings and evenings are pretty chilly already and I am pretty sure I detected a hint of frost on my windshield one early morning last week. I am glad to have already sewn up The Apple by Bella Sunshine Designs.

It is warm and snuggley and a perfect fit. This fabric is beautiful and I am sort of obsessed with bright print on the black fabric. Since I know someone will be wondering the fabric is a ponte from Sincerely Rylee called Melisandre. I am not sure if it is still available as I picked it up in a destash deal a few months ago and it had since been waiting for the perfect pattern to be used.

So the details…

Available in Sizes 0-30 so this pattern will have all the ladies in the family covered. Psst…there is always a girls pattern. The drop sleeve has the option of both 3/4 and full length and you get to choose you between tunic and knee length. Don’t let the circle skirt type of hemming concern you. It is worth every single inch!

The apple sews up quickly even for a beginner as it is only 3 pieces. If you are newer to sewing or been sewing forever this is worth adding to your pattern stash and your wardrobe!

This was is fun when you are dressing up, lounging around, or even working in the garden…ok maybe that one is a stretch but you get the idea.

I graded a 22 bodice to a 28 waist line. I also used the size 24 for the arms as mine are a larger and I didn’t want to feel trapped. 🙂 I made the long sleeve version with the tunic length overall.

BSD Sahara

Bella Sunshine Designs is releasing an updated version of the Sahara with expanded sizes and I have been lucky enough to test the pattern. Drum Roll please….    

Oh yeah, I went with camo. It is hunting season after all.  So this fabulous pattern is packed full of options. First off  the sizes now range from 0-30 and it includes a Full Bust Adjustment for us curvy girls. Three Sleeve options from Sleeveless to Long Sleeved. Overall length includes Top, Tunic, and Long and you also have options for the neckline.

All these options mean you can make a closet filled with the Sahara and still have a lot of variety.

In true Bella Sunshine Designs style, this pattern has excellent directions and an entire group of awesome people willing to help out. Sewing Blog Intro

Starting anew. A new sewing blog. I use to blog about paper crafts and altered art, but now I sew. I sew quilts, clothes and occasionally curtains. I am slowly finding out I enjoy sewing for myself for than others, but then again I am selfish that way. 🙂 I have recently started testing sewing patterns before their release so this will give me a platform to include more details than most Facebook groups allow. I also cook and spend time in the woods so you may see bits of those. There are also dogs who occasionally, like always, visit my sewing studio. You will see them as well. So we will see how this goes.
