SUNNY DAYS, SWEEPING THE CLOUDS AWAY
OK, so that is wishful thinking as a storm is rolling through as I type this. 🙂 Such is Ohio weather in June. Alright. On to the pattern. 🙂 Big surprise, but I am sticking with a good thing. Ta-Da!! Another pattern from Ellie and Mac. This time it is the latest release called Sunny Day.
As you can see, I made two lengths in two totally different types of fabrics. First, I made the Striped version. This is the knee length option. It is super comfy. This striped look a little trippy in pics, but thankfully not as much in person.
I got this fabric from Ms. Rosa over at Sew Blessed. ITY is so cool and silky and dreamy! I have been hoarding this for a few months now. I loved it so much. I can’t wait to make a little cropped cardi to wear over it! I made this version in testing and the tank straps were slightly widen in the final pattern. Just so ya know! 🙂
The second version I made is the mini version. Woot! Woot! I’m wearing a mini dress…over leggings, of course!
This is actually a couple inches shorter than the mini length because I only had 2 yards of this adorable humming bird print fabric. I got it from Ksews. The wider straps in this version cover my bra straps much better! This on sewed up quickly wish is one of my favorite things about sewing Ellie and Mac patterns.
This top is assembled with the “burrito roll’ technique which means no binding! The pattern has great directions for this and a video clip as well. So 6 pieces and you have a top! This pattern also has optional pockets. I was lazy and didn’t make them, now I regret it. I may open up the side seams and put them in. I love pockets so why I didn’t put them in…no idea!
This pattern comes in sizes XXS-4X. I made the 4X. lengths are included in the pattern- tunic, mini, knee and maxi length. Perfect length for whatever you want!
