Luna Twirl Skirt

If your bank account is looking a little thin after all the holiday shopping, I have a great deal for you! FREE!! Totally FREE! In addition, to the Luna Circle skirt being free it is also a super fast sew! Like start to finish in an hour or so. I made this skirt for the first time a few months ago with the Mambo collection release and then I hacked it as an add on to another pattern I will share very soon with you.

Today, I am sharing my latest Luna, which was a Christmas gift for Momma Mia. Momma Mia likes skirts and loves to wear clothes that don’t look like any of her friends. I can understand that, I feel the exact same way. My biggest nightmare would be showing up somewhere and someone is wearing the same shirt as me…no thanks! She also recently mentioned, she likes showing up wearing a new garment when she sees them. Ok, Momma, hint taken!

Luna Promo XXL Jessie Top (4)

The included options:

  • 2 lengths – “mini” (mid-thigh) and knee length
  • Fabric waistband that can be made with or without elastic.
  • Option for exposed elastic waistband
  • 3 cutting options – double fold, single fold (give two side seams), single layer (perfect for colorblocking!)
  • Finishing options – hem, bias tape, or FOE
  • sizes XXS-5X

Luna Promo XXL Jessie Top (2)

I chose the knee length hemmed version again and it fits perfectly on the 2 yard cut of fabric. This Liverpool floral print was picked up at Zink’s in Berlin with the intention of the Luna Skirt. I used the fold over waistband and slid an elastic through to help hold it in place. I love how Liverpool fabric has enough structure to create the perfect twirl effect! While taking these photos, the wind kept catching the fabric and creating a lovely look. I am sad my pictures had the weird shadow, lesson learned…Camera is still fairly new and I am still learning so bear with me.

Luna Promo XXL Jessie Top (3)

I couldn’t sew Momma Mia this pretty floral skirt without a matching shirt, especially when she has been asking for solid tops. This is the Jessie top and Momma Mia’s favorite. You have seen it many times here so I won’t talk you to death about it. This is the tunic length so she can also wear it was jeans or leggings. I love versatile clothing.  This fabric is double brushed poly from my stash. I am pretty sure it came from Sly Fox Fabrics.

Merry Christmas Momma Mia, I hope you love it!

Another Annabeth

Holy Moly Readers, I have been SICK! Like lock me up and throw away the key sick. Yesterday, Christmas, was the first day I really got to hang out with Momma Mia in about 5 weeks. Yep, I was quarantined since before Thanksgiving. I honestly didn’t do a lot of sewing in that time because I was mostly in bed, but I had a few items ready for photos and did a mad rush on sewing the week before Christmas! So prepare yourself, I have some sharing to do! Here we go… This was a November Sew!

5oo4 Annabeth 4xfba-5x (2)

Surprise! I made myself another Annabeth. This really does make the perfect sweatshirt. I adored my original in animal print, but I can only wear it so many days in a row before people start to worry about me. I didn’t shorten this shirt like I did the first Annabeth. I should have removed about 3 inches according to my height. With its longer length, Annabeth becomes the perfect sweatshirt dress. I have worn this one already several times. I *may* be wearing it as I type this. It is perfect for wearing over leggings or skinny jeans. I have worn it at the office, out geocaching and at my sewing table. By now you guys know I love comfy clothing. There really isn’t much better in life then being comfortable. Except brownies…brownies *might* be better!

5oo4 Annabeth 4xfba-5x (4)

I used this hot pink and black printed Cotton Lycra from Stitchin’ Pretties. This print is called Riva! I really like geometric prints and these funky little triangles are only made more awesome by the fact they are flipped on their sides and run sorta vertically and staggered. It wears nicely, washes and dries fine, and even pulled from a laundry basket, it is ready to wear. 🙂 I am on the promo team for Stitchin’ Pretties, but I am also a customer! I actually was invited to the promo team because I was a customer first. I order a large percentage of my fabrics from SP. I adore the shop owner, Laura. She is super friendly and helpful. She ships orders within 1-2 business days. (Typically one.) I suggest you give them a try. I bet you will love them as well. This piece of fabric was my monthly promo for November, but as soon as I sewed this piece up, I ordered more of it! Why the heck not?! It is a fun color and a great geometric print! I plan to sew up a summer tank and a few pair of my favorite undies from it also! Riva is currently on sale for $5.99 a yard and worth every single penny.

Dotty Purse

Dottie Purse (4)

Surprise! I made a small purse! I know I don’t share many small projects on my blog, but this is a fun one! I couldn’t resist the tester call that promised a patchwork purse. I quickly signed up, and pulled out a fat quarter bundle. I also grabbed one piece of purple print to add to the mix and draw out the hints of purple that were in the FQ. I dug deep in my zipper stash to find a matching one. I am happy to report, I had everything in my stash to make this version of the purse. I didn’t have 1/2 inch D rings or Swivel hooks to add a strap though. I kinda like this size for a bag to just throw in my work or overnight bag though so it worked out well.

Dottie Purse (2)

This cute little big came together quickly and used a few techniques I hadn’t seen before. The zipper installation was a little mind blowing, but I will 100% use it again! With proper directions and the included photos, you won’t have any trouble with assembly.

Dottie Purse (3)

I love the pops of colors that are everywhere. I made my own bias tape so I could use the dots. I have used polka dots for some many quilt binding so of course, I had to use it here. The sneak peek of the inside polka dots is cute as well. I couldn’t really make a purse called Dotty without polka dots, right?!?! If you prefer your top sides closed, I think you could do a simple whip stitch to close them up.

Dottie Purse (2)

This adorable purse/tote pattern is now available. Here is a link. The pattern is currently 20% off. This works out to about $4.10 American. 🙂
