Me Made May 11, 12 , and 13.

I warned ya that it may not be 31 days of sewing projects…

So I have I have given up on keeping up at this point. The weather is nice, I want to be outside and oddly enough…not sewing!

Day 11

I went outside. I did some geocaching. It was beautiful out, I climbed some hills, I wanted to die…that sums things up. But at the end…an amazing sunset! Isn’t amazing how much the colors changed in just a few minutes?

Day 12

Working on a dress for Momma Mia. She loves this color! I think it is pretty and I don’t even love the color green!

Day 13

Worked in the yard. I finally mowed my grass and recovered about 14 lost dog toys! I filled and hung out the bird feeders and worked on reclaiming a overgrown mess of a flower bed that was full of empty posts and random stuff. I removed about 2645 random maple tree saplings! Stay tuned for planting time!

Weekend Catch up Party!

Me Made Made Day 8

Remember a few weeks ago when I shared my version of Vivace? I also shared that Momma Mia wanted one. I even shared pictures of her dress on a mannequin due to Covid Isolating. Good News! I have seen Momma Mia and few times and snapped pics of  her wearing Vivace! So here we go with some modeled pics! Much better than a mannequin!

I used my left over fabric from my hacked Calypso. It was still laying on my cutting table and it matched the white and gold stripes I used for my Vivace. Win-Win! Two scraps off my table! You can pick up the Hailey DBP I used from Stitchin’ Pretties with this link!

Me Made May 9

A non sewing project… I upcycled some spice tins into succulent holders. Just use a drill and bit to punch holes in the bottom for drainage and add succulent/ cacti potting soil and plant way.

PS: Don’t judge me because I go through a lot of pepper 🙂

Christmas gift blogging in April?

Me Made May – Day 6
I still haven’t caught up with blogging about all the Christmas sewing projects I made. So here is the next one! I sewed up the Keeley Cardigan for my cousin, Heather. Each year for Christmas my dad’s side of the family does a family gift exchange. We draw names around Halloween and then spend a few months finding a great gift. Around that time, I had just tested the Keeley Cardigan and I loved it. I knew my cousin Heather would also.
Keeley (1)
I ordered this pretty mint green and gray sweater knit fabric from Ksews AKA The Material Girls on Facebook. I knew that Heather would love the pale green color and the softness of this fabric. If I am being honest I had to force myself not to keep it for myself and green isn’t even “my” color. It was just lovely.
Keeley (3)
I decided to make hers a midi length which is half way between both the included pattern lengths. She frequently wears her clothes in layers so it really was an easy choice. To get this length, I just printed the full length pattern and added 10 inches to the shorter length. Cut your pattern (and fabric) at this length. You will also adjust your front band length the same way. Patterns are really very easy to customize. Just think about what you want it to look like in the end, and go for it. Sometimes you will mess up, but
just move on. Why didn’t it work? How can you save it? Don’t quit!
Keeley (2)
This pattern comes together very quickly when sewn in a more basic version. I decided
to not add front pockets since this sweater knit is a lighter weight. If you are using a lighter weight knit, you could always interface at the corners of the pockets to give more support to your stitches. This pattern has an option to add buttons to the front as well.
I took a few pictures of this pattern on a mannequin before the wrapping it, and a few quick pics after gifting. I think she liked it and hope she has enjoyed wearing in all winter long!

Me Made May Day 5

So I have just came to terms with being a day late nearly everyday so far, but life…

Anyhow, just one photo today. Scrappy little quilt blocks using up left over cotton bits of “stuffs.” These are end cuts and off cuts and miscuts. 🙂 I am making these blocks for a scrappy quilt in between sewing other things. They will all be trimmed to a standard size when I have “a ton” of them!

Love Notions – Forte View D Dress

Me Made May Day 4

Morning Friends! Welcome Back! I hope you have all taken a few minutes to enter my raffle at the end of my posts the last few days! You can enter all month long.

Forte Dress View D (2)

Today I am sharing my latest dress with you. I know a few weeks ago I sewed up The Forte top from Love Notions, well today I made the dress, the one with the inverted Vneck. This one has been on my list for about two months. I had a chat with another sewist about their concern about the seam line which connects to the skirt on the bust instead of below it. I confirmed with the designer at the time that is in fact suppose to be midbust. So here I, giving it a shot.

Forte Dress View D (5)

I had this large piece of fabric that I had already cut a dress from for Momma Mia. She wears it often and I adore the fabric so I wanted to make myself something pretty. I was lucky enough to have enough for the Dress View D.  My fabric is double brushed poly from Stitchin’ Pretties. Don’t forget Laura is still throwing in a coordinating yard of fabric for each continuous 2 yard cut you order.  Sadly, this print sold out awhile ago, but there are tons of other options on the site.

Forte Dress View D (3)

So back to my dress, Love Notions is rapidly moving to the top of my most sewn patterns list. I love that they are working on expanding their pattern to the inclusive through 5x size chart and they always include a full bust adjustment pattern piece. I sewed up View D of the Forte Dress, it featured a gathered inverted V front neckline. This dress is surprisingly easy to make and after cutting, sewed up in about an hour. I love that! I like quick sewing projects that look like I spent a lot of time one them.

Forte Dress View D (4)

I elected to go with the sleeve length between short and 3/4 because that is exactly how much fabric I had left after cutting the dress. I am all about using the small pieces and getting them out of my stash. I have way too much fabric to begin with and don’t need a mountain of small bits.

Forte Dress View D (5)

So after making the dress and giving it a wear, I kinda love it. It looks nice, the seam placement across the bust isn’t weird and it is comfortable. All of these things add up to a win! You know what else is a win? This pattern along with all of the Love Notions website is currently 40% off for Mother’s Day! This is the largest sale of the year for Love Notions, so take advantage of it!

Even though this is clearly a post about the Forte Dress, I want to remind you of how fab the Forte Top is too!

Me Made May – Day 2

Did you guys I began sewing with quilting? Yep, I only began making clothing in the last two years or so. I have always loved scrap quilts and am obsessed with Bonnie Hunter quilts!

Today I am sharing a quilt I have been working on. This is a design from Bonnie Hunter over at Quiltville. She designed another great pattern and is sharing it as part of #Sewinplace as the #UnityQuiltAlong. I spent most of the day geocaching today and this evening I am sewing up something awesome to share in the next few days!
