5oo4 Adventure Skort- An Update

I am back with another pattern update! I really love seeing so many designers updating their pattern sizing to be more inclusive. The Adventure Skort has been around awhile, but it now on their updated size chart which is thru a 5x! In addition to the size update, the Skort also has more than a shorts option now. You can run thru the lengthy list of EIGHT length options! Additionally, there are 3 options for your preferred gusset. There are also 2 skirt lengths and 4 waistband options!

Here is the listed rundown of all the *need to know* details.

  • Women’s sizes XXS-5XL
  • Two lengths – a short athletic length and a knee-length
  • The leggings include options for no gusset, triangle gusset, or full diamond gusset
  • The leggings have 8 length options: 1.25″, 3″, 5″ and 7″ inseams, pedal pusher, capri, ankle, and long
  • 4 Rise options – extra low/maternity, low, mid, and high
  • Waistband options include a knit band, band with 2″ elastic, yoga band, or a contour band
  • An in-depth skirt fitting guide
  • Check out these awesome YouTube videos of our testers’ creations for the adult version!

I decided to make the knee length skirt option over capri length pants. I wanted the cute look of ‘sorta sporty’ but also “super comfy.” I used Liverpool for my skirt with the elastic band. My hot pink capris are double brushed poly. I used the full gusset option. I did a full belly adjustment on the pants and used the 5x waist and graded to the 4x for the hips.

This pattern sews so so quickly! After printing and cutting, I would say assembly for the entire thing was around an hour. Perfect when you don’t want to spend long hours on a project and you would rather get to the fun of just wearing it.

I knew I was going to need a new top to wear with my Adventure Skort! I had one issue though, if you can believe it, I had NO fabric to match this colors of the skirt. I thought I would wear it with my hot pink Virginia Tank Top, but I looked like I was channeling my inner elf. As the release deadline was approaching, I headed off to Joanns where I found this bold green color. I used the newly updated Easy Tee pattern. The Easy Tee is hands down my most used Tee Shirt pattern and that is because it has a TON of options. Top, Tunic Dress, pockets, hood, curved hem, bands, SO MANY CHOICES!! My green Tee is the curved hem in a 4x FBA.

The Adventure Skort is on sale currently for $9.60 for its Update Salebration! I thank you for using my affiliate link to shop. This costs nothing for you to use, but helps me to receive a small commission from the designer.

Patterns I have mentioned above that I have blogged about A LOT!

I am a single dog mom of two and we happily reside in a small house in Ohio. We spend our days playing fetch, digging holes in the garden, and sewing, lots of sewing. We have high hopes of moving to the mountains someday. The dogs don’t really know that yet, but they will understand. I shamelessly hoard fabric and feel slightly sorry for whoever has to sort my stash when I am gone. I am employed full time in a industry that requires little of my creativity, but basically lets me wear whatever I want. So it works out. I can usually be found behind one of my sewing machine avoiding human contact. I test a lot of clothing patterns and therefore always have a new outfit to share. You have most likely found my blog through some sort of sewing outlet and will quickly realize that I am sewing for a plus size body. For reference, I am 5'1 and wear a range from a 2-5x. Sizes change with every designer and you can't trust ready to wear sizing when you are making your own clothing. Your tape measure will become one of your most used tools and if you misplace them like I do, you should pick up several. I will be sharing the good, the bad, and the A-MA-ZING with you… So stay tuned. I will also try to teach you a few of my tricks along the way. People always tells me they want to learn how to sew. My best advice is you have to start. Just do it! You are going to mess up, you will break needles, you will ruin the pretty fabric, you will stab your fingers, but you will learn. You will make something and you will wear it. Someone will say, “I like your shirt.” and you will smile and say, “Thanks, I made it.” You will race home and make something else. Pretty soon you have made more good things than bad and you will feel proud of yourself and you should. I will be proud of you too. :) Ok, that is enough rambling, I have sewing to do. :) SequoiaLynn

  1. I haven’t sewed for over a year because of the pandemic. I am retired, and not going anywhere – not even to visit family due to many comorbidities. So sewing has held no thrill, because I am just staying home with my husband and doggies. But as of tomorrow, my vaccine injections should have full immunity, and life may slowly resume, on a smaller scale for sure. But seeing this post today, actually got my sewing mojo going again. I bought and downloaded the Adventure Skort pattern just now, and am headed up to the sewing room to give it a go. Thank you for continuing to inspire me to sew for this body of mine. I need reminders, like you, that size doesn’t matter. We all deserve to wear what makes us happy.
