Carly Shorts – CKC Pattern Company

New comfy shorts make me super happy! In addition to being super comfy, the Carly Shorts from CKC Patterns are an awesome scrap buster. I made my shorts from a left-over chunk of fabric from making a pair of pants months ago. I used this fabric thinking it would be a good mock up fabric because the quality wasn’t great. I was thrilled when these shorts fit without any adjustments at all. This so rare for me so I was totally thrilled! So so rare!

Happy they fit!

Even as summer is winding down in my side of the world, I am encouraging you to take a look at this new pattern. The Carley shorts come together so quickly they can be your go-to scrap buster pattern and you can have all the comfy shorts. I think shorts are something I reach for anytime I am hanging out at home or heading to the gym. I wear them all year long and would love to have an endless supply of them!

I wasn’t even aware CKC had plus sized adult patterns until I saw the tester call. I hate to admit that, but it true. I will thrilled to discover another pattern company that is curvy size friendly. I am happy to report the pattern is inclusive through a 62 inch hip which seems to be the new size chart.  Additionally, the pattern includes a few options. You can add pockets or leg bands depending on what you like. I pulled out some athletic knit scraps to make a couple pair of shorts for the gym. I can’t wait to add the large side pockets to them. Also for you cool kids- There is also a kid’s pattern! The kid’s pattern is half price also.

Today is the last day of the new release sale and the pattern is only $3! That is a steal you should take advantage of!

Love Notions Update – Luna

Another updated Love Notions pattern is on the site. More inclusive sizing for an old favorite. I had never made the Luna Loungewear Nighty because it wasn’t in my size range. Now it is and I am so excited to have this one to my closet and pattern library.  I love that it is sew versatile and includes 5 different options so you can make exactly what you need.

Here is the list. 🙂

  • Meant for knit and woven fabrics
  • 5 pieces: Cami, knee-length nighty, shelf bra/bralette, shorts and capris
  • Full bust option
  • Optional shelf bra
  • Optional side seam pockets

Sizes: XS-5X (See Size Charts here)

I decided on making the nightie option of the pattern. I really didn’t need any pjs, but this is also the perfect summer sun dress. The easiest way to make that happen is fabric choice. If you don’t want something to look like pajamas, don’t use fabric that looks like pajamas. 🙂 Easy enough!  I picked this heavier weight double brushed poly from the Jessica Cee collection. 😉 If you know me at all, I love all the floral prints so this was an easy choice. The white background is a step out of my comfort zone, but it is perfect for summer.

I used wide width fold over elastic for my binding. This way I can cover my bra straps. 🙂 I was able to find FOE at Hobby Lobby in the spool trim section half price a few weeks ago for 50% off so I stocked up. 🙂 I do love a bargain!

If you would like to give the Luna Pattern a try, it is on sale for only $5 today! That is basically 1 buck for each pattern piece. 🙂
