Annabeth Sweatshirt

Do you love cuddly clothing when it starts to get cold outside? Sweatshirts, Hoodies, and all that jazz? Me too! 5oo4 has an answer to that issue for you! This is the AnnaBeth Sweatshirt! I am working on cutting out my second one because I need this in a hoodie version ASAP! First off, I love a Raglan style top! I typically colorblock the sleeves for an added pop of fun, but this fabric was all I needed to make it amazing. Speaking of colorblocking, this shirt can be colorblocked! You can do the side panels as a accent or the sleeves or both! There are no rules when you are sewing for yourself.

5oo4 Annabeth Sweatshirt 4x FBA (2) - Copy

In addition to the colorblocking options, you can add a kangaroo pocket to the front or hidden pockets if you choose to color block the side panels. 5oo4 is never shy when giving us options. Here is the entire list.

The Women’s Annabeth Top and Tunic Sweatshirt includes:

  • Raglan style sleeves
  • Solid or color-blocked options
  • Hidden front pocket or kangaroo pocket
  • Short or long sleeves that can be hemmed or finished with a band
  • Regular sweatshirt top length or tunic length with a lower hem in the back
  • Hem is finished with a band
  • Standard cuffs or a NEW thumbhole cuff option
  • Crewneck or cross over hood
  • Regular bodice or full bust adjustment (FBA) bodice
  • Sizes XXS – 5X (see the last image for yardage and size chart)
  • See the awesome video of all of our tester’s designs here!

This shirt sewed up quickly and easily. I removed about 3 inches of length from the body of the shirt and 2 from the sleeves. After I made my shirt, the cuffs were sized slightly smaller to give a better fit. However, in my photos, you will notice my cuffs are folded in half compared to the original pattern. I always do this. I actually think it is a habit more than anything. I didn’t do a bicep adjustment as these sleeves are wide enough for me. If I planned to wear the hoodie over a bulkier shirt, I would add some room to the sleeve.

Fabric time!! OOMMMGGGG Brushed Hacci Sweater knit is everything that makes me happy. Animal print always makes me very happy. Them together and I am sooooo in love! I picked this fabric up online from Ksews. You can find her online at a group called The Material Girls. She shops the fabric markets and resells to people who aren’t near the markets. This fabric has a slight flaw which was a run near the salvage. It is still usable, but it is expected when shopping these groups. They typically will point out flaws. I am happy that I have enough of this fabric left to make either a scarf or try making a beanie hat!

Layla Dress – 5oo4

The Layla Dress, The Everything Dress, The Perfect Dress

5oo4 Women's Layla Dress Size 24 (3)

Yep, That basically sums it up. This dress has everything you need. I feel that 5 out of 4 really does a stellar job of covering all the possible options and I never feel like there is something that is missing.

5oo4 Women's Layla Dress Size 24 (8)

I struggled to decide which fabrics I would use for this dress and had assembled the entire bodice before choosing my skirt fabric. I thought I had actually decided I was using a pink solid woven fabric that had been hanging out on my shelf for years, but then I realized that I didn’t have enough of the solid fabric I wanted to use, so I ran to the store! I ended up choosing a regular quilting cotton. I picked this fun, bright pink and white print that would work well with my bodice. I knew I would be adding a solid pink sash to tie my top and bottom together and I picked up some cute buttons while at the store. My bodice fabric is from Ksews. I thought this was Liverpool, but I think it is actually more of a waffle knit. Whatever it is, I love it for spring and summer! Super bright and cheerful!

5oo4 Women's Layla Dress Size 24 (9)
Rachelle from 5oo4 admitted this is her most difficult pattern to date, but trust me she has dialed it in perfectly! I made a size 24 bust graded to 26 at the waist. The pattern comes with Full Bust pattern pieces included which I love! This saves me the work of doing it on my own. I love that! The princess seams are a lovely detail as well.

5oo4 Women's Layla Dress Size 24 (6)

The bodice is fully lined. The reason I like this is that it keeps the neckline extra clean and neat looking. Even though I know how to sew a neckband and all that jazz, even just a stitch or two out of line stands out like a sore thumb. With the lined bodice, you will never have that issue. The directions were well written and easy to follow. I didn’t have any difficulty with the actual assembly of my new dress, but it took several hours to do it. This pattern is well drafted with excellent directions, but it isn’t a 2 hour project, so plan accordingly.

5oo4 Women's Layla Dress Size 24 (7)

I chose to sew up the scoop neck option with short sleeves and used buttons instead of the snaps. This is the Knee length adjusted for height. I am only 5’1.

5oo4 Women's Layla Dress Size 24 (5)

Here are all the options that come with the pattern:

Coraline Cami & Primrose Panties

Bella Sunshine Designs is back!! Actually, they have always been here, Melissa was just busying growing a baby and building her dream home! This a double pattern release week and perfect for Valentine’s Day!! I know a lot of PDF companies right now are enticing us with super skimpy sexy patterns, but I am all about being comfortable 365 days a year! My requirements are fairly simple. I need my lady bits covered and everything in its place. So Bella Sunshine Designs gave us these great patterns.

The Coraline Cami and the Primrose Panty.

First, we will talk about the Coraline Cami. I don’t like camis. I rarely wear camis. I hate when my bra strap shows and my top stitching always looks messy. So I don’t make them. I said this exact same thing when the tester call came out, and Danielle said to me, “Practice makes perfect.” So I made a cami. I like the cami. I tucked my bra straps in my bra. My top stitching looks neat. Not too shabby…. if I say so myself.

BSD Corlina 24-28 (7)

I choose to make a tunic length top, which is perfect for running around the house in. I think it would also work well with a cardigan over leggings. I like when my clothes can be wore more than one way!

BSD Corlina 24-28 (2)

This pattern comes in sizes from Doll to Ladies 30 with an optional FBA. I love that BSD includes that and saves me the trouble of doing it myself.

BSD Corlina 24-28 (5)

This was my first time using fold over elastic and it honestly was much easier and neater to sew than bands. I have ordered several colors now and can’t wait to use them up!

In addition to the Coraline Cami, BSD released The Primrose Panty –

BSD Primrose and Coraline (3)

I have dreaded making panties for as long as I have been sewing. I think it mostly because I sew with a lot of synthetic fabrics and those aren’t the best for panties. I rarely have cotton lycra on hand and it is typically a little more expensive, but it is idea for sewing the guesset AKA the crotch area. I was able to score some great deals on CL from Ksews. Which is also where I picked up this pineapple print. The pineapple fabric is a jersey blend which is actually quiet comfy and has decent recovery. I have wore both the cami and the panties several times without issue.

BSD Primrose and Coraline (1)

I love that the Primrose comes with 2 rise options as well as 2 options for the cut at the leg. I choose the higher option for both of these. You can also choose to make bands instead of using the Fold Over Elastic, but I wanted my set to match so I went with the FOE. Another great thing about these panties are all the seams are hidden and they come together quickly and neatly!

Lucky Girl

Are you a LUCKY GIRL? Are you wearing the Lucky Girl Top? Lindsey and the tester team worked hard to get this great top ready for you. This is the first test I have been able to do for Ellie and Mac in a few months. I feel like I am back in my game!

eam lucky girl top (8)

So let’s talk about my shirt and  its options first! I made the tunic length because that is what I am most comfortable wearing. I also have made the split banded sleeve. There is an option to do a tie sleeve if you prefer. The step by step directions made it easy to make these sleeves. I used my serger to finish the edge of my sleeve opening and then my sewing machine to top stitch it. I often find the serged edge makes it easier for me to fold over and hem anything.  I graded from a 4x armscye to the 5x at the bicep then back to the 4x at the elbow. I didn’t want to work out a bicep adjustment for this type of sleeve honestly. I don’t even know where Id begin, unless I put the two pieces together, then bicep adjusted, then split again. That would probably work. Not sure, 4x to 5x worked too. eam lucky girl top (1)

In addition to the sleeve options, you can choose from 3 length options plus you can do bands on the hem lines. So potentially you can make 6 different lengths! The top comes in PDF download form in sizes XXS to 5X.

eam lucky girl top (7)

I got this print fabric from KSews. I believe it is a rayon poly blend jersey. We think. 🙂 It has a nice two way stretch, but I think the pattern called for 4 way. I love the black and white stripes and the little red cherries that pop out everywhere.

Sunny Day

SUNNY DAYS, SWEEPING THE CLOUDS AWAY

EAM Sunny Day 4x 12

OK, so that is wishful thinking as a storm is rolling through as I type this. 🙂 Such is Ohio weather in June. Alright. On to the pattern. 🙂 Big surprise, but I am sticking with a good thing. Ta-Da!! Another pattern from Ellie and Mac. This time it is the latest release called Sunny Day.

As you can see, I made two lengths in two totally different types of fabrics. First, I made the Striped version. This is the knee length option. It is super comfy. This striped look a little trippy in pics, but thankfully not as much in person.

I got this fabric from Ms. Rosa over at Sew Blessed. ITY is so cool and silky and dreamy! I have been hoarding this for a few months now. I loved it so much. I can’t wait to make a little cropped cardi to wear over it! I made this version in testing and the tank straps were slightly widen in the final pattern. Just so ya know! 🙂

The second version I made is the mini version. Woot! Woot! I’m wearing a mini dress…over leggings, of course!

This is actually a couple inches shorter than the mini length because I only had 2 yards of this adorable humming bird print fabric. I got it from Ksews.  The wider straps in this version cover my bra straps much better! This on sewed up quickly wish is one of my favorite things about sewing Ellie and Mac patterns.

This top is assembled with the “burrito roll’ technique which means no binding! The pattern has great directions for this and a video clip as well. So 6 pieces and you have a top! This pattern also has optional pockets. I was lazy and didn’t make them, now I regret it. I may open up the side seams and put them in. I love pockets so why I didn’t put them in…no idea!

EAM Sunny Day 4x 5

This pattern comes in sizes XXS-4X. I made the 4X.  lengths are included in the pattern- tunic, mini, knee and maxi length. Perfect length for whatever you want!
