Lace Me Up Top and Week 6 Challenge

Happy Valentine’s Day Folks! I have been sewing in between sicknesses and have a few finishes I can finally share!

Lace Me Up Top by More 2 Hug

I am nearly certain I have never tested a pattern with this many options before and I was admittedly overwhelmed.

Back to the sickness…I am literally a mess in all this photos. My sinus is on fire and I am pretty sure my head is about to explode. My eyes are swollen nearly shut BUT this is an awesome pattern and I am telling you about it while it is on sale! I also realized I didn’t even wear my watch this day. I always wear my watch!

Sacrafices! I tell ya!! Here we go! Swollen eyes are a bonus!

This is the everyday T with a scoop neck and flutter sleeves. I also chose to make my hem even but it comes with a hi-lo option. I made this one as my basic fit test, but as you can see it is totally wearable.

Also the Week Six Challenge was to Sew with something Red or Pink.

This totally has pink it in!

Also the girls at work informed me it isn’t an “old lady fabric” as I had been calling it. I think it is cute and I only paid 2 bucks for 2 yards at a thrift store back in the fall. It has Joann’s on the selvage so I am figuring I saved myself about 18 dollars or so from thrifting!

For my second test run, I did the Color Blocked Shirt. Ekk!!! I am kinda in love with this one. It  has the option of lacing up the front, but I chose to just leave the flap detail unlaced. I used the front scoop neckline for the for the back also and banded it. The stripes are connected to the floral in case you can’t tell that here. I also took back views of both of these shirts but they were lost in between my tablet and blog. UGGG

– scoop or V neckline, with or without laces
– deep V at the back with optional modesty panel

I even used my leftover pieces of SBP Savage in Teal and my matching stripes from Sly Fox Fabrics. (Insert heart eyes here)

Cozy Sunday Sweater

I recently had the opportunity to test for a new to me designer.  More 2 Hug is offering this shirt plus a cozy  Sunday pant and capri pattern. You can purchased them as separates or a bundle. I finished my shirt and have picked out fabric for my pants. Shh don’t anyone but I am making RED pants to team with this shirt. I think that I need to wear it on a boat somewhere. 🙂 As soon as we get through the holidays, I will be making the pants.  IMG_2076

I really liked the cross front style of this shirt and felt it looked great over a hot pink tank! Perfectly matching earrings as well and blue glasses today. 🙂 I chose to make the mid length sleeve with the cuffed band which I always find looks more finished. There are also short and long sleeve options. I double stitched down the neck band facing as my fabric didn’t have a enough body to stay turned down on its own. In hindsight I could have interfaced it and given it the body it needed. I think it would hold down fine with a heavier weight knit. This pattern was well drafted from the start and fit without adjustments on my side. The pattern included a hood options and a banded waist or a hemmed finish. Lots of decisions means loads of options.

I choose to use a fun striped print I picked up on Black Friday at Joann Fabrics and LOVE how it turned out.
