Filling my spring closet with Maggie

Since I just got serious about sewing back in late fall, my closet is in obvious need of things to wear as the weather improves and I can no longer hide under cardigans everyday. Last weekend I went on a marathon sewing spree and that consisted of two new Maggies. A few days later and pattern still out, I made another one with some small scraps I couldn’t bare tossing under the table.

First up, Short sleeve with a 1 inch bicep adjustment, Top length, low scoop neck

I made the size 24 with the included Full Bust Adjustment pieces, graded to a 28 at the waist and hip. This fabric is a super soft bushed poly from I am so blessed.

Next up

Tunic Length with the full bust adjusted pieces, Size 24 graded to a 28, Short sleeves with a 1 inch bicep adjustment, low neckline. This fabric is Liverpool from I am sew blessed also.

Lastly, A Maggie Dress! My first Maggie Dress. This dress came about because I had some leftover Gallery DBP fabric from Sly Fox Fabric that I literally couldn’t toss in the scrap bin because I loved it too much so it became sleeves and a neckband.

Again size 24 graded to a 28. I used the included full bust adjustment pieces again. I adjusted the bicep 1 inch and made short sleeves. This is the dress length.

Emmaline Maxi, Dress, & Top

Bella Sunshine Designs is back!!!

AND

EMMALINE IS HERE!!

Oh Hello, Gorgeous Emmaline.

This amazing pattern comes in 3 different lengths, PLUS two different skirt designs. Did you add that up? SIX OPTIONS! You can make the simple skirt or the chevron! I made one of each both in dress length. You can also choose the shorter top length or the beautiful Maxi dress. I needed a couple spring dresses and these are perfect!

Sleeve options range from sleeveless to long, but I am wearing the short length. Again summer is coming and it gets kinda hot in Ohio.

My fabric both came in bundles from SewSoEnglish. The hot pink, aqua, and the galaxy print are brushed poly and the pink polka dots is rayon spandex. I honestly can’t pick which one I like best!

Waiting for the flower to pop up!

I stitched up the 24 bodice with the INCLUDED full bust adjustment pattern pieces and graded to a 28 at the waist! I removed 2 inches from the bottom of the bodice as I am only 5’1. That brought my skirt up to where my natural waist is and gives a better overall look. I didn’t add to the bicep area as was loose enough to fit. I like the fluttery fit of these sleeves.

Size range from kiddos to 30 women’s. Dont forget the full bust adjusted pieces included. So make yourself one, your kiddo one, and the next door neighbor lady! This is great for everyone!!

My thoughts:

I love this design so much! It feels good, it fits great! I like that it isn’t lined, both because it will be cooler in summer and less fabric usage. Yep! I am cheap like that. 🙂 Also since getting a serger my neckbands look way better! I have worn my dresses and do not pull and tug at them because the fit correctly. I love that the pattern comes with a FBA already done for me. I swear every designer should do this! Why wouldn’t they do this? This is loaded with options plus it will mix and match all the options of both The Sahara and The Clementine. BONUS!! So basically that is a closet full right there! Oh yeah, #Idontsewforothersbutformommaiwill aka Momma Mia is already asking questions about this one….she has her eyes on one I think.

Oh yeah, I went with camo. It is hunting season after all.  So this fabulous pattern is packed full of options. First off  the sizes now range from 0-30 and it includes a Full Bust Adjustment for us curvy girls. Three Sleeve options from Sleeveless to Long Sleeved. Overall length includes Top, Tunic, and Long and you also have options for the neckline.Resized_20171001_161010

All these options mean you can make a closet filled with the Sahara and still have a lot of variety.

In true Bella Sunshine Designs style, this pattern has excellent directions and an entire group of awesome people willing to help out. I am fairly new to ‘successful’ garment sewing and I was able to sew this up in just a few hours. So go check it out!
